This painting holds the moment when one thing becomes another. A turning. The way a fallen leaf becomes soil, or grief becomes something quieter over time.

The forms are caught mid-becoming. Nothing is fixed. Colour moves into colour, shape into shape, the way matter in the forest is in constant conversation with decay and renewal. What looks like ending is often a threshold.

Transmutation is an invitation to sit with that threshold, to let what is dying die, and to trust what is quietly taking its place.

‘Transmutation’ 114x145cm/48.8x57in oil on canvas.
