'Heart Space' is a meditation on the boundless capacity that opens when we stop contracting around separation and the need to control.
In the Buddhist understanding, heart space is a vast, open dimension of being, a place of refuge that is always available, always present, yet often obscured by the churn of the thinking mind. To rest in heart space is to soften the grip of the ego, to allow the boundaries between self and other, between inside and outside, to become porous. It is where compassion arises as a natural response to this clear seeing.
This painting holds that opening. Its layers and textures suggest a movement from constriction toward expansion, from density toward light.
